Ford Diesel 1997

Was 1997 a good year for the Ford 7.3 diesel? A local dealer has a 1997 F-350 DRW with 50,000 miles, one owner very good condition. The asking price is 12,900.

RE: effects of the economy

We spent one night at a park in Post Falls Idaho and left with the impression that the park was full of long term residents. Wether construction workers or people displaced by the economy is hard to say. The park management had no trouble charging full price during the off season.

RE: Coastal Washington State

When on the Olympic Pennisula, go to Lake Ozette and hike the board walk to Cape Alava. Also visit Deception Pass on the north end of Whidbey Island. Well worth the time and all near sea level.

RE: Opinion needed on Lil Rocker Too hitches

I have the RBW Lil Rocker and have used it for three years. The only thing I don't like is the 3/16 inch gap between the king pin and the bars. Just on more jolt to absorb when starting or stopping.

RE: Now this is towing! Not for the faint of heart!

Take a look at the Paccar Kenworth/Peterbuilt product line for information on the tractors that pull those road trains. Also look at their emergency brake system of mats that drop down under the wheels. Interesting stuff.

RE: electric panel replacement

Which panel are you talking about, the 120/240 volt A C panel or the 12 volt D C panel?

RE: Airstream in winter?

In the late 1960,s I wintered in a 30 foot Airstream near Dayton Ohio. It was a record cold winter, so cold that Lockheed Aircraft did the cold weater test there as is was colder than in Alaska.
Problems: At the coldest point, the furnace ran 24 hours with out shutting off. The fill point for the water tank froze and I unknowingly collapsed the water tank using the water pump. (The city water service was disconnected because of the cold. The sewer connection also froze. Condensation is also a problem that can be minimized with a de-humidifier.
Later on three of us lived in the Airstream with out major problems.

RE: Where did you purchase your 12V adapter for your TV?

Carefully check the size of the 12 volt outlet in your camper. There is no standardization between cigar lighters and RV Television 12 volt outlets.
The ones made for television by Wingard are a fraction of an inch smaller the what the automotive industry makes.

RE: Low voltage at the CG...what do you do?

The shore power plug heating is a sign of poor or worn contacts in the recepticale. I would have moved to another site looking for improved voltage readings. The campground management should be notified.

RE: Can I replace the "drum" on my awning?

Many years ago, I replaced the roller tube on an awning that was bent by water overload. I used a length of aluminum irrigation pipe to make the replacement. It was not expensive, but did require a bit of work.

RE: Highway #83

I made that trip many years ago, Winner South Dakota to Laredo Texas. Enjoyed the trip very much and would like to travel 83 again. Last year when east bound on US 2 in North Dakota it was tempting to turn south at the intersection with 83. Take you time and see the real America.

RE: Lost a roof vent cover and I have a ??

Try to determine the manufacture of the missing cover and find a direct replacement. Each manufature has a different hinge design.
I had to replace a crank up unit do to poor quality.

RE: Route 2 From Glacier MT To Grand Forks ND

Made that trip last year. Enjoyed the trip very much as I don't like freeways. There is some construction as North Dakota is trying to make Hwy 2 into a freeway. Enjoy the fields of Sun flowers.
I would take that route again.

RE: Pressure Regulator

I was in a campground in Northern Utah that had very high water pressure. The pressure was enough to blow the end off of my water hose. No damage to the RV as the failure was at the in take side of the regulator. I had to replace the hose.
